Dr. Lily Elefteriadou, Founder. Dr. Elefteriadou is an internationally recognized expert on traffic operations, traffic flow theory and simulation. Dr. Elefteriadou has authored or co-authored more than 250 publications and reports related to traffic operational quality and highway design, as well as a textbook titled “Introduction to Traffic Flow Theory”. She is a former Chair of the Transportation Research Board’s Highway Capacity and Quality of Service Committee, which guides the development of the Highway Capacity Manual, and she has developed several traffic analysis methods currently included in the HCM. Dr. Elefteriadou is an AAAS Fellow, and has received several awards for her research, including: the 2021 ARTBA Research and Education S.S. Steinberg Award, the 2019 ASCE Harland Bartholomew Award for her work on I-STREET, the 2015 ASCE James Laurie Prize for her contributions to highway capacity analysis, the 2015 ARTBA Ethel S. Birchland Lifetime Achievement Award, and TRB’s Fred Burggraf award for excellence in research in 2001. She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to perform research at the Technical University of Delft, Netherlands, September- December 2001. She received the 2003 PSES Outstanding Research Award from the College of Engineering at Penn State where she was a faculty member. Dr. Elefteriadou received her Graduate Diploma in Surveying and Environmental Engineering, (five-year program) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in June 1987. She received her M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, in June 1990, and her Ph.D. in Transportation Planning and Engineering from NYU, New York, in June 1994.
Dr. Ehsan Amini, Co-Founder. Dr. Ehsan Amini is an expert in transportation engineering, traffic operations, and simulation. With over a decade of experience, his work has contributed to advancements in driver behavior modeling, optimization of connected vehicle systems, and updates to the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM).
Dr. Amini serves as an Associate Engineer at the McTrans Center and as a faculty member at the University of Florida, where he specializes in teaching and training on traffic simulation and capacity analysis tools, including TSIS-CORSIM and HCS. He has played a significant role in developing methodologies for arterial traffic management and freeway capacity analysis, supported by research funded through organizations like STRIDE and NCHRP.
Dr. Amini is actively involved with the Transportation Research Board (TRB) and serves on the Traffic Simulation Committee.
Dr. Amini earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida, focusing on optimizing operations at freeway weaves with connected and automated vehicles. He holds an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology, where he developed a microscopic model for longitudinal vehicle spacing, and a B.Sc. from Kerman University.
His technical expertise spans advanced traffic simulation software such as HCS, TSIS-CORSIM, VISSIM, and AIMSUN, as well as
programming languages including Python, JavaScript, and HTML, as well as programming environments like MATLAB. Dr. Amini’s research aims to revolutionize traffic systems through data-driven innovation and cutting-edge algorithms.
